The group got into the festive spirit with our Christmas meal, ready for a relaxing Christmas break!

5th December 2023

Beth and Paulo attended the SLAS-ELRIG networking event - unveiling the power of molecular glues in medicine, science and beyond, where Dr. Aneika Leney presented an interesting talk on 14-3-3 and some Native Mass Spectrometry research. 


16th - 18th November 2023

Richard and Adem both attended the EFMC International Symposium on Chemical Biology meeting that took place in Basal. Adem presented his research in a poster and Richard presented a fantastic talk!


October 2023

Raj came back to successfully defend her thesis, obtaining her MPhil degree before returning to her teaching role. 


September 2023

After being shut for a month, the shiny new lab is open again with two new fume hoods, ready for some exciting synthetic projects just in time for the MChem students.

7th - 8th September 2023

Paulo and Adem went to the lovely Zagreb for the 10th EFMC - Young Medicinal Chemists Symposium 2023. They both presented their research with posters and Paulo gave a flash talk. 

20th July 2023

A massive congratulations to Marta, Alisha and Jake who had their PhD graduations today as well as our MChem students, Olly and Alan, also graduating. It was a wonderful day full of celebrations with family and friends! 

13th-14th July 2023

Beth attended the Protein Purification and Biophysical Characterisation Conference at the University of Bedfordshire. It was a fab few days of networking and learning about AKTA systems and AUC methodology. 

22nd May 2023

Richard presented at the European Symposium on Biological and Organic Chemistry at Gregynog Hall in Wales. It was a fantastic weekend of science, friends, sun and beautiful scenery!

Alisha successfully defended her thesis and said goodbye to her pride and joy - the freeze drier!

Congratulations to Jake who successfully defended his thesis! He is returning back to Barcelona where he has started a Postdoc position. We wish him all the best in his brilliant new adventure!

Hadeeqa spent the day at the BMSS Biomacromolecular SIG meeting in Leeds, learning about the exciting emerging technique of native mass spectrometry.

A big congratulations to Richard and Beth who have published a 14-3-3 review titled 'Contemporary biophysical approaches for studying 14-3-3 protein-protein interactions' in Frontiers in Molecular Biosciences!

10th - 11th October 2022

Beth and Marta took part in a Bioscience workshop for outstanding PhD students and Postdocs at Sygnature Discovery based in Alderley Park. It was a great insight into the drug discovery process within an industry setting.

Congratulations  to Dr. Peter Blas who has been awarded a Daphne Jackson Fellowship to come and join our group on a part time basis for 2 years. Peter's fellowship is based around our work on Pin1.  

24th - 26th June 2022

Richard presented some of the groups work at the RSC Chemical Biology and Bioorganic groups famous Firbush meeting. Firbush is an activity centre on the edge of the beautiful Loch Tay. It was a fantastic weekend!

9th - 11th May 2022

Well done to Jake (talk) and Beth (poster) who both presented at the 8th NovAliX Biophysics in Drug Discovery meeting in Munich. It was a fantastic meeting that has inspired lots of new ideas. A highlight was meeting one of the world's 14-3-3 leading experts, Prof. Christian Ottmann.

Richard enjoyed a fantastic day of science at the RSC Chemical Biology symposium. He's also looking forward to presenting the group's work at the EFMC meeting in Nice later in the year.

Congratulations to Jake (talk) and Beth (poster) who had their abstracts accepted to present at the 8th NovAliX Biophysics conference being held in Munich in May. Its looking like a fantastic conference line up!

Richard, Marta, Alisha, Beth, Aleeya and Raj attended the RSC Chemical Biology and Bioorganic Group Postgraduate Symposium at the University of York. It was great to attend a conference in person for the first time in more than 2 years, and it was a great meeting! Marta presented her (final?!) poster at the event.

Congratulations to Thomas who has secured a PhD position as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the group. Thomas has just finished his MChem project with us, and we're delighted that he's staying! Looking forward to getting started in September.

Marta K and Thomas gave their MChem presentations and did a fantastic job! Everyone was really impressed with their slides and engaging presentations. Richard will certainly be asking to 'borrow' some of the slides......
